Carolyn Davis, 67, of Oxford passed away September 1, 2019 in Winfield, KS.
Memorial Services will be held at 10am Friday, September 6, 2019 at the Oxford United Methodist Church. Memorials have been established with the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions can be left with the Oxford Funeral Home, P.O. Box 123, Oxford, KS 67119.
Carolyn Marie (Phipps) Davis was born on September 5, 1951 in Wellington, Kansas the daughter of Merle and Ethel May (Carson) Phipps. She was a 1969 graduate of Oxford High School. Carolyn met Michael Davis when she was 16 and fell in love with the “bad boy” from Wichita right away. On August 30, 1969 they were united in marriage, and just celebrated 50 loving years. Carolyn worked for 10 years as a pianist for the Belle Plaine High School, where she played musicals such as Oliver Twist, Hello Dolly, South Pacific, and The Music Man. She was an accomplished musician, winning first place in the state at piano contest in high school, among many other awards. Carolyn could play any instrument she put her hands on and became a very good banjo picker. She also loved teaching kids how to play piano. She taught aerobics for 12 years during that time and traveled to exciting places across the country pursuing her love of fitness. Carolyn later worked as a paraprofessional at the Oxford Schools in the library and computer labs. She loved the students and the people she worked with at the school and talked about them still in her final days. Carolyn had a deep love for animals and adopted many dogs and cats and even had some chickens, all which had names.
Survivors include her husband Michael Davis of Oxford, daughters; Angela Askins and Jennifer Davis Howard and husband Alex all of Oxford, KS, five grandchildren; Mikhail Davis, Emily Askins, Melodie Hunt, Sadie Askins and Ty Askins.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Elvin and Johnny Phipps.
