Cecil Lloyd Thomson, 94, of Winfield passed away Wednesday morning, December 25, 2019 at William Newton Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 30, 2019 at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. No visitation is scheduled. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Cecil was born in Winfield on August 25, 1925 the son of Ray and Ella (McDade) Thomson. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1943. Cecil married the love of his life Geraldine Parker on June 28, 1944, she preceded him in death in 1995. The family moved to Boron, CA in 1953 and he worked for the US Borax and Chemical as a planning director and diesel mechanic. He moved back to Winfield in 1987 after he retired. Cecil enjoyed hunting and running cattle, he was also an assistant coach for his children’s sports teams and was very involved in supporting their athletic activities. Cecil grew up attending the Tisdale United Methodist Church and was also a member of the local Elks Lodge.
Survivors include: son Jim Thomson and wife Edie, three grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Geraldine, daughter Diane Bishop and two brothers.
