Chad Irwin Obituary

Chad Mitchell Irwin, age 48, of Winfield unexpectedly left his earthly life on Thursday, June 14, 2018.

Chad was born on October 16, 1969 in Emporia, Kansas to Dale and Karen (Yeager) Irwin. Chad attended grade school at Country View Elementary and graduated from Winfield High School with the class of 1988. He later attended Brown Institute in 1991, graduating with a degree in broadcasting. Chad married the former Jennifer Barnes in 1993 and together they had two children: Dane Thomas Irwin, age 17 and Tessa Louise Irwin, age 14. On March 12, 2016 Chad was re-married to the former Christy Stedke at Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield and they resided in Winfield. Chad and Christy together enjoyed a lot of adventures and happiness.

Chad was a supportive and loving husband, and friend to so many. He loved cooking, painting, antiquing, old cars, reading, golfing, 80’s music, and scotch with a good cigar. He adored his beloved family and always made his children a priority.

Chad is survived by his parents, Dale and Karen Irwin, of Winfield; his wife, Christy Irwin, of Winfield; children: Dane and Tessa Irwin, also of Winfield; as well as sisters: Sonja (Phil) Carr of Pittsburg, Kansas; and Shelley (Dave) Gromer of Pittsburg, Kansas; nieces and nephews: Colby Carr of Salt Lake City, Utah; Cameron Carr off Pittsburg, Kansas; Dylan and Dalton Gromer also of Pittsburg; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family is hosting a memorial celebration to honor and remember Chad on Thursday, June 21 at 1 PM at Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the “Dane and Tessa Irwin Memorial Scholarship Fund” at Community National Bank. Contributions may also be left with the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
