Chantha Sopha

Chantha Sopha, 71, of Winfield passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. No visitation is scheduled. According to Chantha’s wishes cremation will take place following services.

Chantha Sopha was born in Thakhek, Laos on May 7, 1948 the son of Chanthep and Paxta Xayachack. He was united in marriage to Joyce Sopha on January 1, 1970 in Thakhek, the couple later divorced. In 1986 Chantha moved to America with his family and began working for Levi Strauss in Amarillo, TX. After working in Amarillo for 20 years, Chantha moved to Winfield and worked for Rubbermaid for 10 years, he retired in 2010. He enjoyed mechanics and working on cars, watching soccer and football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, and he loved spending time with his friends.

Survivors include his children: Daravone Sopha, Oraya Sopha, Pari Sopha, Vatthana Sopha, and Valerie Hernandez; grandchildren: Mitchel, Alexis, Chyenne, Tyreese, Nakhai, Brooke, Cyrus, and Ezra; siblings: Boupha Xayachack, Yeck Xayachack, Onh Xayachack; and partner Chanh Keosybounheuang. He is preceded in death by his parents.
