Delmer Ray “Del” Short, 84, of Wellington, passed away peacefully December 23, 2019 at his home in Wellington, KS.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home in Wellington. A memorial has been established with Good Shepherd Hospice and may be left with the Shelley Family Funeral Home 704 N. Washington, Wellington, KS 67152.
Delmer Ray Short a was born on April 25, 1935 the son of Delmer Floyd and Virginia May (Adkins) Short in Burdine, Kentucky. He served his country in the United States Army for 3 years during the Korean War. Del was then united in marriage with Novetta Crumly on May 1, 1956. Del worked in plumbing and heating, worked in a mine, as a policeman and ran a bowling alley. He worked in sheet metal which got him a job for the Sante Fe Railroad where he worked for 21 years. Del later ran a carpet cleaning business and worked for the city of Wellington in the water department. He also fixed and rented homes.
Del is survived by his loving wife, Novetta of the home; 3 sons: Steven Short and wife Johnna of Jenks, OK, Clifford Short of Shattuck, OK and Robert Short and wife Sondra of Wellington; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Shirley Faye Dixon of Shattuck, OK and Patricia Shelton of Amarillo, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.
