Donna Lee (Weddle) Swartz, 85, of Winfield Kansas passed away at the Kansas Veterans’ Home in Winfield, KS on May 19, 2018.
Donna was born in Kipp, Kansas on February 3, 1933 to Alvin Leroy and Janette Anna (Stephens) Weddle. Donna grew up in Salina, Kansas and graduated from Salina Central High School. She attended Brown Mackie School of Business. Donna married Clifford Eugene Swartz on June 28, 1953 in Salina Kansas. She was a longtime employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and worked at Kerr’s clothing store in Winfield. Donna was an avid bowler, loved to be outside walking and playing bridge in several groups. Donna was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir until her health declined. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by daughters Susan Hostetter, Cindy Lemay and husband Troy; grandchildren Nathan Holcomb, Nick Holcomb and wife Heather, Landon Hostetter and wife Toby, Janae Mettling and husband Jason and Seth Herrell; great grandchildren Blaak, Kennedy, Koy and Maison Holcomb, Perla Hostetter, Ellasyn, Edyn, Ensley and Stratton Mettling and Madelyn and Kooper Herrell; Sisters, Norma Oborg and husband Pete and Mary Ann Paxson and husband John. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, her parents, an infant sister, son-in-law Keith Hostetter, granddaughter Natasha Herrell and nephew Mike Paxson.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield on Thursday morning 9:30-10:30 A.M. A memorial in Donna’s name has been established with the Winfield Isle of Lights. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
