Florence Beall Obituary

Florence Mae (Bell) Beall went to her long awaited Home to be with her sweet Jesus and beloved husband, Andy, on August 4, 2018.

Her family will hold a memorial service on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of God(Holiness) at 611 N. 6th St., Arkansas City, KS  67005.

Born March 6, 1922, the oldest daughter of James Alvin and Zula Irene (Majors) Bell, Florence's life was shaped by the Great Depression.  The oldest of six siblings, Florence was expected to pitch in and work hard from an early age.  Life was hard and her family moved often following work in everything from oil fields to cotton fields.  At the age of seventeen, she was introduced to the love of her life, Anderson "Andy" Philip Beall, by a mutual acquaintance.  After a handful of dates, they were married on November 21, 1939.  Five years later, Andy proudly purchased a home in Arkansas City, KS and Florence never had to move again.  Into this home was born Jimmy Lee Beall (1941) and Andrea Phyllis (Beall) Dickson (1946). Another date of importance in the lives of both Florence and Andy is the year 1950, when they visited the Church of God (Holiness) in Arkansas City, KS and chose to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.  This decision changed the course of their lives, giving them healing, hope and a new path to walk together.

Despite frequent moves and chronic poverty, Florence managed to finish the 8th grade.   Years later as her daughter attended high school she completed her GED. Although limited on formal education she was an avid learner and lover of books her entire life.  Along with her great love for nature.  She was known for her gentle touch with baby birds and squirrels, nursing many back to health until they could be released to survive on their own. She could recognize most local birds by sight and sound and loved the bright cardinals most of all.  Her gardens were full of a large variety of fruits and vegetables which she canned, saved and shared.  Her flowers were vibrant and beautiful: lilacs, roses and bachelor's buttons, among her many favorites.  To the very end, the love of animals, flowers and a well-loved book, along with God's Word, filled her heart with joy.

Florence is preceded in death by her husband Anderson "Andy" Philip Beall, her parents James and Irene Bell, all of her siblings Tex, Gene, Sharon, Jerry, and Joyce, her son Jim Beall, one granddaughter Bambi Beall and one grandson Jimmy "Sonny" Beall and her son-in-law Frankie Dickson.

She is survived by her daughter, Andrea (Beall) Dickson of Arkansas City, KS, granddaughters Deanna (Brian) Page and Amber Redding; her great-grandchildren Bryanna Page, Carrie (Andrew) Reed, Alexa (Joshua) Fross, Karson Ozbun, DeLaney Page and Thomas Young and daughter-in-law Diana Beall.
