George Wesley McKenzie

George Wesley McKenzie, 84, of Arkansas City passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Wesley Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, September 11 at Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Twin Rivers Developmental, memorials may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home – 803 Loomis Winfield, KS 67156.

George Wesley was born in Peru, Kansas on February 12, 1934 the son of Estella Michelle and Taylor Lloyd McKenzie, Sr. George enjoyed going to camp and being at the sheltered workshop; he liked talking and teasing people, and being the center of attention, he also like to brag on his nephew Joey McKenzie’s music career. A simple life well lived. He gave us joy and much love. Many lives were better because of George.  He was loved and his unconditional love will be missed. George McKenzie gave us all a shining example of how to live in truth, in the present moment, with love and in gratitude.   Today, George is reunited with his parents, his siblings and many others gone before him. George is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Mary Ann Wallace, Iona Roberts, Mack McKenzie, Avery W. McKenzie, Joe L. McKenzie and Lloyd McKenzie, Jr. He is survived by his sister Patricia Barham and numerous nieces and nephews.
