Geraldine Ruth (Glantz) Liebau

Geraldine “Gerry” Ruth Liebau, 89, of Winfield passed away Thursday morning December 13, 2018 at William Newton Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Winfield at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield on Monday, December 17 with family present from 5-7 P.M. Memorials in Gerry’s name may be made out to Grace Episcopal Church, contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.

Geraldine was born on October 21, 1929 in Wichita, KS to parents Benjamin and Pauline (Klein) Glantz. The family later moved to Winfield where Gerry graduated from Winfield high school in 1946. On November 23, 1947 she was united in marriage to the love of her life whom she met on a blind date, Melvin Liebau at the old Winfield United Methodist Church. Gerry was a secretary in the Winfield public school system for over 40 years holding many different positions, she was secretary to the superintendent, secretary to the principal, and the Irving Elementary secretary. After retirement she continued to work at the St. Johns alumni association office and the Winfield Public Library. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church and sang in the church choir, and was a member of the Daughters of the King. Gerry was also a member of the Winfield Sorority Club, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son Michael Liebau, daughter Marta Liebau LaFond, grandchildren: Mason Liebau, John Henry Liebau, Danica Dickson, Mitchell Dickson, and Becca LaFond; great-grandchildren Mason Murray and Marley Dickson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Melvin “Kit” Glantz and twin brother Gerald Glantz.
