Irvin Lee Byers

Irvin L. Byers, 86, of Wellington, KS, passed away, Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at his home with his family.

Graveside Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 21st from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Shelley Family Funeral Home in Wellington. No family night is scheduled. 

Irvin Lee Byers was born on November 22, 1932 the son of Wesley and Maurine (Boyle) Byers in Arkansas City Kansas. Irvin was a graduate of the Wellington High School before serving his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. Irvin was united in marriage with Carol Woodring on May 1, 1961. He worked as a car inspector for the Sante Fe Railroad for over 39 years. Retiring in 1994.

Irvin is survived by his wife Carol of the home; daughters: Brenda Brownlee and her husband Roger of Wellington and Valerie Byers of Wellington; 3 grandchildren: Jasmine and husband Jason Harmon, Jesse Brownlee and wife Kayla, Dalton Brownlee and wife Kelsey; and 9 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Dorene Sandell and Donna Yeager.
