Karen Lynn Rohr, 77, of Winfield passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at William Newton Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, June 12 at the First United Methodist Church in Winfield. Private burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Karen’s name may be made to the First United Methodist Church, the Cowley County Humane Society or the American Red Cross, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home – 803 Loomis St. Winfield, KS 67156.
Karen Lynn Rohr was born on March 1, 1941 in Augusta, Kansas to parents Edward Bert Watson and Mary Kate (Lane) Watson. She graduated from Augusta High School and later graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1962. Karen was united in marriage to Bill Rohr, the couple later divorced. Karen loved being a nurse and worked at St. Joseph Medical Center and Heartland Psychiatric Rehab Center in Wichita for many years, in 1988 Karen was in a car accident which kept her from doing the work she loved. Karen enjoyed the Red Hat Society, reading, her friends and she was devoted to her kitties. Her faith was very important to her and she was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Winfield.
Karen is survived by her second cousin Jill Boucher of Texas, and friend Katrina Tamsen who was like a little sister to her and took care of her for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents.
