Kathryn Jean Jones, 84, of Winfield, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Winfield Senior Living.
Memorial services will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, August 4 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. There will be a visitation held from 1-3 P.M. prior to the funeral. Memorial contributions in Kathryn’s name may be made to the USD 465 Foundation – Nursing Scholarship. Contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.
Kathryn Jean was born in Roseland, Kansas on February 22, 1934, the daughter of Ernesto and Mary Ann (Florio) Aquino. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1952 and attended the Kansas State College of Pittsburg Nursing Program after graduating. She married the love of her life William Francis Jones on September 1, 1956 in Scammon, Kansas. Kathryn enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. She worked for Home Health Care, Western Insurance Company and was a paraprofessional at Lowell Elementary School and Winfield Middle School. She was involved with the Red Hat Society of Winfield, Epsilon Sigma Alpha of Wichita, and was a proud breast cancer survivor. Kathryn also loved cooking, decorating her home, and being a Nana to her 5 grandchildren; she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on at their sporting events.
Surviving to honor her memory are children: Marcia McIntire of Winfield, Mark Jones and wife Stefani of Winfield, Mitchell Jones of Dallas; grandchildren: Jared McIntire of Winfield, Jordan McIntire of Lawrence, Jace McIntire of Lawrence, Nick Jones and wife Rylee of Rose Hill, and Alyssa Jones of Wichita; and brother Joe Aquino,Rogers, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and sisters: Mary Supancic, Jody Hinson, and Gerry Aquino.
