Kristin Ann (Winblad) Frahm

Kristin Ann (Winblad) Frahm, 66, of Winfield passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at Cumbernauld Village.
 

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 3 at Grace Episcopal Church in Winfield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
 

Kris was born June 3, 1953 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Gloria (Danielson) and Dr. James Winblad. During her father's military service and medical residencies, Kris lived in several different cities. The family made their final move to Winfield when she was nine. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1971 and received her Bachelors of Science in nursing from KU in 1975. Kris worked in the medical field her whole career. The majority was spent as office administrator for Winfield Medical Arts, but she also worked the same position at Wesley Medical Center and South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center at different times. Earlier in her career, she worked as a staff nurse, an ICU nurse and a pharmaceutical representative in Kansas City and Florida. She moved back to Winfield  in 1981 and remained here for the rest of her life. Additionally, Kris was an entrepreneur. She owned two different successful businesses - a video store first and later an auto body shop. And finally, the work Kris may have been most proud of was that as caretaker. After raising her three children, she moved in with her mother who was struggling with the challenges of Alzheimer's. After her mother passed away, Kris stayed in the family home to continue caring for her youngest sister, who also suffered from Alzheimer's later in life. Kris enjoyed reading, watching movies, but most of all she loved spending time with her friends and family. 
 

Kris is survived by her son James Frahm and wife Amber and their soon-to-be-born daughter, daughter Ericka Frahm and partner Clint Shirley, and son John Frahm; siblings: Dr. Kent Winblad and wife Becky, Dr. John Winblad, Ingrid Culver and husband Christopher; nieces and nephews: Krista Boan, Bret Winblad, Cole Winblad, Jennifer Alford, Onalisa Winblad, Ingrid Brown, Kirsten Anderson, Erik Culver and Hannah Culver. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Sonja Winblad.
