Letha Mae Jones, 89 of Arkansas City, KS passed away on August 21, 2019 surrounded by her family.
She was born March 6, 1930, the daughter of Richard and Lyda (Hency) Young in Wellington, KS. She was raised by her grandparents Calvin and Mary Hency. She was a graduate of Wellington High School.
After high school, she married the love of her life, James Edwin Jones on November 2, 1948 in Wichita, KS. The couple moved all over the country following her husband’s career with Boeing Aircraft. Letha worked as a home-health and certified nursing aid, caring for others her entire life. She enjoyed working in the flower beds, crocheting and being a caregiver. Letha was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Conway Springs.
She is survived by her children; Jannet Rose, Linnet Rodgers and husband Michael, Larry Young and wife Joanne, and Linda Guidry; her six grandchildren; Chris Thrasher and wife Danielle, Adam Albrecht and wife Teela, Alicia Kimbrel, Merika Warren and husband Jim, Randa Lessert, James Young, Kenneth James Young, Jeremy Young, and Kathy Young; her great- grandchildren; Kyleigh, Seth, Jim, Billy, Courtney, Briley, C.J., Aliana, Gabby and Opie, Jaxon and William. She was preceded in death by husband, James, brother, Cecil Young, and sister, Donna Prilliman.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 28th, 2019 at the Conway Springs, Kansas Cemetery. Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City, Kansas is in charge of arrangements.
