Lola Mae (Hayes) Begley

Lola Mae Begley, 83, of Arkansas City, KS, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Medicalodges of Arkansas City.

Cremation will take place and the family will hold services at a later date.  Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City is in charge of the arrangements.

Lola Mae was born on February 16, 1936 in Parkhill, OK, the daughter of Robert Columbus and Myrtle Elsie (Hendrickson) Hayes.  She was married to James Begley in January of 1954 in Oklahoma.  Lola worked as a housekeeper and also as a certified nurse’s aide.  She had several famous people she loved, including, Elvis Presley, John Wayne and Charley Pride.  Lola also had an extensive collection of angels.  

Her family includes her daughters, Jeanne Palmer of Arkansas City, Brenda Cooley (Chester) of Woodward, OK; her sisters, Judy Gallagher, Marie Miller, Linda Miller, Debra Ramsey and Ruby Hassler; her sister-in-law, Lucille Hayes; her 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and her numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, siblings, Robert, Betty Jane, Maudie, Louise and Lorene and one great-grandchild, Melvin “Mel Mel”.
