Louise Eleanor (Reynolds) Nichols

Louise Eleanor Nichols, 79, of Winfield, passed away Thursday, August 02, 2018 at her home with her family by her side.

Memorial services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield on Wednesday, August 8 at 11 AM. In honoring Lou’s wishes, memorial contributions may be made to Lois Reynolds who will facilitate the placing of memorial brick pavers at the Buffum Family Assoc. Historical Home and Museum in Colden, NY. Memorial contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home - 803 Loomis St. Winfield, KS 67156.

Louise Eleanor (Reynolds) Nichols was born in Winfield on March 4, 1939 to Carl and Mary Ethel (Buffum) Reynolds. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1957 and attended Southwestern College. In 1959 she married Lary D. Nichols, they were blessed with three children, the couple later divorced. Lou worked in accounting for many years with Albertson’s Grocery and Manny’s Hardware. She later earned her LPN and worked with Focus and Southwind. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church. Lou enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, needlepoint, bowling and reading, especially mysteries. Her greatest joys in life were her family and friends. Her love, laughter and caring attitude was inspiring and infectious to all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children: Lary Shane Nichols, Jana (Britt) Porter, and Teresa Nichols; grandchildren: T. Nicole Porter and Marcus (Estela) Porter; great-grandchildren: Piper Olivia Turner and Heath, Joey, Devon and Alanso Porter; sister Dorothy Malone; sister-in-law Lois Reynolds; and companion Emile Snell; dog Justin, two grandcats and other beloved family pets; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Ralph, Kenneth, Glenn, Donald and Cecil Reynolds and three grandcats.
