Marjorie Alexander Obituary

Marjorie Alexander, 74, of Wellington, Kansas, died, Monday, January 17, 2011, at her home under the care of her family and hospice in Wellington, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 21st at the St. Johns' Lutheran Church in Wellington, Kansas. Burial will be in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Hawks-Shelley Funeral Home of Wellington with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established with the Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions can be left with the funeral home..

Marjorie Lee Alexander was born on February 24, 1936 the daughter of Carson Lee and Jean Marietta Ball Miller in Wellington, Kansas. Marjorie was raised and attended schools in Wellington. On January 13, 1953 she was united in marriage with Elza Alexander in Winfield, Kansas. Marjorie worked as a nurses aid and scrub technician at St. Luke's in Wellington for many years and later for the Wesley Medical Center. Marjorie enjoyed knitting, cooking, baking and raising flowers. She also liked to travel, boat and camp with her family.

Surviving to honor her memory are her husband of 58 years Elza Alexander of Wellington, sons; Steve Alexander and wife Cindy of Broken Arrow, OK and Kelly Alexander and wife Kathy of El Dorado, KS, daughter, Julie Popplewell and husband Brian of Wichita, KS, her sister-in-law and loving friend, Shirley Church, nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, one brother, Russell Miller and wife Rose of Wellington and God-daughter, Mandy Miller of Wichita.

Preceding her in death are her parents, granddaughter Nicole Alexander, 3 great grandchildren; Brayden Popplewell, Dustin Wiley and Wyatt Marvin.
