Paul Monroe Dickson

Paul Monroe Dickson, 92, formerly of Winfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Meridian Rehabilitation and Health Care Center of Wichita.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, December 7 at Central Baptist Church of Winfield, interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 P.M. Friday, December 6 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church, contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.

Paul Monroe Dickson was born on September 21, 1927 in Arkansas City, Kansas the son of Alva and Minnie (Goodman) Dickson. He grew up and attended high school in Arkansas City. Paul was united in marriage to Audie Estel, the couple later divorced. Paul later married Betty Rainford, she preceded him in death after 31 years of marriage. He worked at Dillons for 10 years and at Home National Bank as a custodian for 21 years. Paul was a member of Central Baptist Church for 12 years. He loved playing the French harp, singing, metal detecting, collecting Hot Wheels cars, nick-knacks, and coins. He was known for being tidy, wanting to keep everything in order and telling ladies that they had a pretty smile.

Survivors include his daughter Ruth Clifford and husband Randall, step-children: Chuck Rainford and wife Jan, John Rainford and wife Debbie; grandchildren: Michelle Basel, Neil Dickson and wife Scarlett, and Mark Dickson; 10 step-grandchildren whom he was very close to, and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, son Max Dickson, granddaughter Sonja Murphree, step-son David Rainford, step-daughter Jeanne Strausburg and 9 siblings.
