Rachel Dawn Clayton passed away August 23, 2018 in Pont-a Mousson, France. Rachel, the beloved daughter of John and Sandy Clayton of Wellington, Kansas, was born in Wellington on October 9, 1970. She spent the first nine years of her life in Wellington. At the age of 9 she moved to France with her family where she lived until she graduated from high school. Upon graduation she returned to Kansas to pursue College studies at Sterling College. She was a literature major. She loved literature especially poetry, and she wrote beautiful poetry. For a good part of her adult life she lived in Denver, Colorado where she worked for New York Life Insurance Company. Rachel had returned to France in 2013 where she lived in the city of Pont-a-Mousson. She will be greatly missed by Annabelle Felten of Pont-a-Mousson, France, her parents, John and Sandra Clayton of Wellington Kansas, her sister Rebekah Hyer of Wellington, Kansas and Rebekah’s children, Christian, Gabriel, and Juliette, her sister Meredith Clayton and Meredith’s husband, Rocky Supinger and their daughter, Laura of Chicago, Illinois, and her brother, John Nathan Clayton, his wife Maureen, and their children, Elizabeth, Adam, Mary and Benjamin of Lake Forrest, Illinois, as well as loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 8th at the Wellington Baptist Temple, 1022 N. Plum, Wellington, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Argonia, Kansas Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 7th, at the Shelley Family Funeral Home in Wellington from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
