Alexa Patricia Saunders, 78, of Winfield, KS, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025, at her home with her husband by her side.
There are no services scheduled at this time. Memorials in her name may be made to the Wichita Humane Society and left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.
Alexa was born on March 21, 1947, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, to parents Albert and Rhoda (Harper) Desrochers. She attended Winter Haven High School in Winter Haven, FL, before attending Florida State University, Saint Leo University, and Fort Hays University, receiving her master's degree in instructional technology. On June 21, 1981 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Henry “Hank” Watson, in Carson City, Nevada. Alexa worked as an MIS, Medicaid, and student records clerk for 14 years for USD 619. Alexa and Hank lived in Oxford for many years before moving to Winfield in 2024. Alexa enjoyed her dogs and cats and mystery books, especially Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes. Alexa was a devout Buddhist and strove to live in harmony with the world around her. She loved adventuring with her husband. She was a beloved wife, best friend, companion, and inspirational spirit.
She is survived by her husband Hank, brother Christopher Desrochers.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother.
