Barbara Leigh (Doze) Jenkins

Barbara Leigh (Doze) Jenkins, 79, of Arkansas City, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at South Central Kansas Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City, burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Monday, March 21 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions for Barbara may be made to the Shelley Family Funeral Home to defray funeral expenses.

Barbara was born September 24, 1942, in Joplin, MO to parents Richard and Naomi (Ravenstein) Doze. She spent most of her childhood in Conway Springs, KS and later moved to Ark City and attended schools in Ark City. She was united in marriage to the love of her life Donald Jenkins Sr. in Sedan, KS on February 20, 1958 and made their home in Arkansas City. Don owned Jenkins Oil & Gas and Barbara was the bookkeeper for the company and also worked as a bus driver for the Arkansas City School District for a short time. Her focus in life was her family raising her four children. She enjoyed spending time with her family and going to watch all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals. She loved fishing and spending time at the lake and creek with her family.  She enjoyed trips with her cousins and had a special bond with her cousin Nancy.

Survivors include her children: Tammy Bain and husband David, Donnie Jenkins Jr. and wife Rita, and Chad Jenkins all of Arkansas City; grandchildren Chasity Bain, Josh Bain and wife Beverly, Clayton Graham and wife Brynn, Courtney Graham and husband Kenny, Tara Jenkins, and Lucas Bain; great-grandchildren: Vandal Kent, Draklyn Kent, Malachi Murphy, Jaden Bain, Dylan Bain, Liam Bain, Presli Tharp, and Taleigh Bain, Jase Graham, and Oaklee Graham, and step-grandchildren Gracie, Bo and Maggie Musson, sister-in-law Vicki Doze, brother in law and sister-in-law Ronnie and Anita Jenkins, uncle and aunt-in-law JD and Margie Jackson and numerous nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Cynthia Jenkins-Phillips, brother Kent Doze, and granddaughters Nikki Tharp and Mindy Jenkins.
