Bessie Mae Martin, 88, of Oxford, KS passed away April 20, 2023 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Oxford Christian Church. Graveside services will follow at the Oxford Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled from 4-6 PM Monday, April 24, at the Oxford Funeral Service Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harry Hynes Hospice in Winfield, Ks, donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.
Bessie was born on April 19, 1935 in Wellington, KS to parents George and Elsie (Munro) Brooks. She attended Wellington High School and later business school in Wichita for bookkeeping. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for accountants. On December 21, 1953 she was united to the love of her life Tommy Ray Martin. Bessie enjoyed camping, traveling, genealogy, gardening, and embroidery. But most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Bessie is survived by her husband Tommy, children Donald Martin (Christine), Judy Voyles (Dan), grandchildren Ashley Hagan (Steve), Benjamin James Martin, Elizabeth Sisk (Scott), Rebekah Voyles, Calvin Voyles, Jessica Gladden (Jonathan), Matthew Martin (Rebekah), great-grandchildren Laurene, Brian, Natalie, Abigail, Taylor, Autumn and Conner.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sons Michael R. Martin and James D. Martin, brothers Harold andGeorge and sister Fern.
