Bona Lee Thompson

Bona Lee Thompson, 86, of Winfield passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at Winfield Rest Haven.

Bona was born May 5, 1935 in Beatrice, Nebraska to parents Eugene and Evangeline (Broodbrooks) Thompson he spent most of his childhood in Beatrice on the farm. Later joined the Marin Corp in 1953 were he fought in the Koran War until he was given the purple heart for being wounded in the line of duty.

On July 3, 1957 he united in marriage to Eleanor Roylene Bartram. As a married couple they lived in several states Nebraska, Washington, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri and finally moved to Mulvane, KS for several years then moved to Winfield, KS in 1990 where they lived the remainder of their lives.

Lee was proceeded in death by his son JR Lee Thompson, parents and his 5 siblings.

Family include Children Kathy and Steven Kerns of Wichita, Brenda Thompson Relf of Winfield and Sheila and Gene Reams of Winfield.

Grandchildren Angela Fry of Haysville - Amanda and Mike Palowski of Haysville - Richard Fagan  -  Anthony Fagan both of Short Pump, VA - John and Hannah Fagan of Derby – Calvin(CJ) and Christy Reams of Winfield – Kyle and Alicia Reams of Derby – Cassy and Jesse Kent of Mulvane

Great Grandchildren Alexander, Berlynn, Savannah, Addison, Isabella, Christopher, Brody, Cason, Ammure, Owen, Geneva and Ellie.

Private inurnment will take place at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions for Bona may be made to the American Legion Post 10, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
