Carl Leon “Beaver” Brogan, 74 of Arkansas City passed away on April 9th, 2022 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, April 14th at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City, KS. Burial will follow at the Mount Olive Catholic Cemetery in Moline, KS. There is no visitation scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pat Brogan Scholarship Fund or the Elk County Rodeo Association. Donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City or mailed to Dana Denton, 150 South Forest, Howard, KS 67349.
Carl was born April 4th, 1948 in Winfield, KS, the son of Joseph and Marjorie (Nicholson) Brogan. He attended Moline High School. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on January 30, 1968 and was honorably discharged on January 10, 1970. Carl was a hard worker and enjoyed working at several different places including the Moline Feed Store, Sheels Oil, Range Oil, helping local farmers, and most recently the Pleasant Valley Township. He retired in December 2018. Carl enjoyed gardening, going to the casino, and visiting with his neighbors. He was a member of the Arkansas City American Legion and the Elk County Rodeo Association.
Survivors include his siblings: Carolyn (Rick) Gonzalez, Gary (Vicki) Brogan, Donella Johnson, Nancy (James Boomsma) Crowell, Janice Winters, Marty (Tom) Ware, Linda Sinnett, and Dana (David) Denton; as well as nine nieces and seven nephews. Carl is preceded in death by his parents and brother Patrick Brogan.
