Carol Ann (Herpolsheimer) Reager

Carol Ann (Herpolsheimer) Reager, 81, of Ponca City, OK passed away at her son’s home surrounded by her family Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield, burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas Humane Society, contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.

Carol was born October 3, 1939 in Grand Island, NE to parents Harold and Amanda (Zlomke) Herpolsheimer. Carol’s family moved to Winfield in 1949, she graduated from Winfield High School in 1958 and attended Southwestern College. She worked for 21 years as a para-professional for USD 259 in Wichita and was a Golden Apple Award recipient. She was united in marriage to Forest Jackson in 1960, at the First United Methodist Church in Winfield, the couple later divorced. Carol later married James Reager in 1969 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Wichita. Carol enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening, sewing, going camping, bird watching, being a Scout den mother and taking care of her pets, she outlived 12 dogs and numerous cats.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years James Reager, children: Greg Jackson, Stephanie Jackson, Jeanne (Reager) Nelson; grandchildren: Alan Jackson, J.J. Jackson, Ailene (Jackson) Jones, Therin Moon, Stevie Moon, Ashley Casey, Hunter Slothower, Gunner Nelson and Faith Nelson, and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents who operated the Winfield Pastry Shop on the 1000 block of North Main St. in the 50’s and 60’s, her brothers Eugene and Wayne Herpolsheimer, and sister Betty (Herpolsheimer) Roberson who passed earlier this year.
