Carol Ann Wright, 70, of Winfield, KS passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at ANEW Healthcare and Rehab of Oxford.
Graveside memorial services will be held at Highland Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley Co. Humane Society and DaVita Kidney Care Center of Winfield. Donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Carol Ann was born November 6, 1953 in Hugoton, KS the daughter of Ruth Ann (Bergevin) and Charles W. Wright. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1971 and attended college at Stephens College of Columbia, MO, St. Johns College and Southwestern College of Winfield, KS and she later graduated from Kansas State University in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She worked for the Parsons Sun, the Manhattan Mercury, the Junction City Daily Union and for the Winfield CourierTraveler as a reporter and columnist for many years. Carol had a lifelong interest in dance and horses, she loved reading, collecting stuffed animals, and she was a proud supporter of the Cowley County Humane Society.
Carol is survived by her brother Charles Wright of Winfield, and many extended family members in Texas and Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents.
