Catherine Ann (Briski) Snell

Catherine Ann (Briski) Snell passed away on November 7, 2018 in Wichita, Kansas. She was a longtime resident of Rose Hill, Kansas before leaving her home.

Cathy was born on March 17, 1930 in Van Houten, New Mexico, the youngest of 11 children.  Her family relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area shortly before World War II, and she graduated from San Mateo High School in 1948.

Cathy worked in a bakery and as a dental assistant before marrying Alfred W. Snell in 1955. He preceded her in death in January of 2013. Cathy later worked as a teaching assistant in a kindergarten in Norfolk, VA. Al served in the United States Navy and Cathy accompanied him to various stations stretching from Hawaii to Virginia. Cathy and her family lived in Monterey, California from 1971 to 1978 and she spent countless hours on the coast watching the waves of the bay crashing onto the rocky coastline. She said that that was where she always felt at peace no matter what else was happening in her life.

When her twin grandsons were born in 1991, Cathy had the joy of spending time with them as they grew up.

Cathy was preceded in death by Alfred, her parents Michael and Mary Briski and 10 older siblings. She is survived by her children: Dan Snell of Salinas, California (Stephanie); Tim Snell of Wichita, Kansas; Brian Snell of Florida; Donna Bunyard of Rose Hill, Kansas (Gary); and Kevin Snell of Manhattan, Kansas and by her grandsons: Matthew Bunyard of Kansas City, Kansas and Michael Bunyard of Kansas City, Missouri.

Funeral arrangements are through Shelley Family Funeral Home in Winfield, Kansas. A Rosary will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield on November 15, 2018 at 7:00 PM and funeral services will be held at the same location on November 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield.
