Charles Eugene Kennedy

Charles “Chuck” Eugene Kennedy, 85, of Arkansas City, KS passed away May 13, 2025, at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 23rd at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Burial will follow at Parker Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 9-10 A.M. prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.

Charles was born on December 21, 1939, in Girard, KS, to parents Lester Ralph and Thelma Marie (Smith) Kennedy. He attended Ark City High School and then left early to start working in the oil fields. He worked as a warehouse manager for Skyline Homes, at Continental Soap, and Gordon-Piatt before retiring in 2002. Charles enjoyed playing guitar, shooting cowboy revolvers, astronomy, collecting coins and Civil War memorabilia, and watching baseball. He was a father figure to his nieces and nephews.

Charles is survived by his brother Robert “Bob” Kennedy, sister Sandra Zimmerman, nieces and nephews: Kevin Kennedy, Darrell Kennedy, Kerri Pelton, Randy Renollet, Paula Harader, Steve Renollet, Bradley Renollet, Harold Beck Sr., Tammey Steffen, Scott Faber, DeAnna Nelson, and Tiffany Zimmerman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Carolyn Renollet, niece Linda Paddock and great-great-nephew Braden Renollet.
