Charles Swecker, 87, of Wellington, KS, went to be with the Lord Monday, July 30, 2018 at his home in Wellington, Kansas.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Charles Lee Swecker was born March 10, 1931 in Wichita, KS, the son of Charles B. and Lina (Hamrick) Swecker. He spent his childhood and youth living in Topeka and spending summers on the Webb family farm in western Kansas. Charles graduated from Topeka High School and joined the US Navy in 1949, serving on a troop transport during the Korean War as an electrician. Most of his joy and satisfaction came from working on farms in western Kansas and Sumner County. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a para educator for special needs students.
Charles is survived by his wife, Virginia Purdy Swecker of the home; daughters: Susan Watters and husband Russ of Las Vegas, NV, Denise Ammann and husband David of San Diego, CA, and Christy Fell and husband Gordon of Peck, KS; brothers: Everett Eugene Webb and wife Arnella of Jetmore, KS and Mike Webb and wife Linda of Wichita, KS; a sister, Peggy Schoen of Dodge City, KS; 10 grandchildren, 14 going-on 15 great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him death are his grandparents, Charles B. and Lina (Hamrick) Swecker and his mother and stepdad, Hattie (Allen) and Maurice Webb; brothers: LTC Robert Swecker and Mark Webb; and sisters: Elsie Jacoby, Madge Wargo, and Virginia Proplesch and spouses; and a brother-in-law, Roy Schoen.
