Christopher Buercklin Obituary

Christopher James Buercklin, 31, of South Haven, KS passed away late Saturday night, May 8th, 2021 at his home in “Buerckistan”.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has been effected and there will not be a funeral service. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, which he most assuredly will annoyed about. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory with the Cowley County Humane Society. These and any other form of condolences can be left in care of Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Christopher was born September 17th, 1989 in Ponca City, OK to Shawna and Kenny Buercklin. He was welcomed home by his brother Jonathan, who gave him the nickname "Fer" because he couldn't pronounce Christopher.

Christopher was incredibly smart, very artistic, and his sense of humor was loved by all who knew him.  He was also a talented, self-taught guitar player, and performed Nirvana's Lake of Fire at the high school talent show. Early on, his artistic ability surfaced, in first grade his picture of Abraham Lincoln was used in the USD 470's yearly calendar for the month of February.  In 5th grade, his picture of George Washington was used on the one room schoolhouse Arkalahlah float for IXL grade school. He was enrolled in the gifted program in 3rd grade through to his high school years.

Christopher was interested in many subjects and would immerse himself in them till he had learned all that he could, then it was on to the next.  This started when he was 3 and became interested in cemeteries and tombstones, drawing many pictures, then on to trains, old monster movies, flags, currencies, countries, presidents, music, and more, all with pictures drawn to go with each subject. He became interested in politics and enjoyed arguing with his father about them.

After high school, he worked as a game tech at the Little Bit of Paradise Casino, then later became an apprentice electrician at Younger-Holmes Electric in Ponca City and Blackwell ok. In recent years he developed an interest in raising ducks and other poultry and just last year tried his hand at gardening and was expanding on that this spring. He also was chief security officer here at buerckfish farms in buerckistan, a title his father gave him. He took this job very seriously and was always on the lookout for neer do wells and shenanigans.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his beloved Winston, Knute, Big Black, Porkchop and Bulldops.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, brother, aunts and uncles, cousins and many, many friends.

He used to say "I'll do as I wish" when told to do or not do something, and he often did, right up till the end when he left us without saying goodbye. He will be missed so much by so many-to quote a family friend, "the world will be a lesser place without him".
