Clemente Louis Montoya, 100, of Winfield passed away at his home Saturday, June 26, 2021.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday, June 29 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #10, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.
Clem was born November 6, 1920 in Houston, TX the son of Ruperto and Maria (Manriquez) Montoya. Clem was united in marriage to the love of his life, Anita Amador, on February 22, 1941, in Winfield. They shared 78 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on April 17, 2019. He was drafted into the army during WWII and fought in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Clem worked for 44 years as a supervisor for KDOT, he was a landlord in his retirement and enjoyed taking care of properties as well as tending cattle. He liked hunting, fishing, being a car enthusiast, driving around town, going to Island Park and watching ducks, going to auctions, collecting timepieces of all kinds, dancing, and spending time with family. Clem was also a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the local American Legion and VFW.
His family includes his children, Pete Montoya and Erlinda Montoya-Kiser; his grandchildren, Kristin and Spencer McFarland, Joe Kreie, Angie and Jerry Byrd, Lisa and Tony Darling and Val and Henry Morrow, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and caregiver Eric Montoya.
Clem was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anita Montoya, infant daughter Virginia and son Clemente, Jr.; 2 grandchildren, Ric and Todd Montoya, and his brother Greg Montoya.
