Del R. Dudley Parsons, 63, of Oxford, KS, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022, at William Newton Hospital in Winfield, KS.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 22, 2022, at the Oxford First United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place at the Oxford Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the “Oxford Baseball Association” for the summer the ball program, donations may be left in the care of the Oxford Funeral Service.
Del was born in Wellington, KS August 20, 1958 to parents Ray and Mary Ann (Dudley) Parsons. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1976. On August 4, 1979, Del was united in marriage with the love of his life, Karen Stangle. Early in his work life, Del worked at the Oxford Co-Op. Later he worked in lumber retail for first Oxford Lumber and most recently Mill Creek Lumber. He was very involved in the Oxford community and served as the Mayor, on the city council, and as a volunteer fireman. He was also a life-long member of the Oxford First United Methodist Church and served as a trustee for many years. Del was especially involved in Oxford sports, such as soccer, baseball, and softball coach, and as the head of the summer ball program.
Survivors include his mother Mary Ann, wife Karen Parsons, son Brett Parsons and wife Jessica Haymaker-Parsons, daughter Mallory Ruyle and husband Nick Ruyle; grandchildren: Tucker and Harrison Ruyle, and Roslyn Haymaker-Parsons; siblings: Debra Schwhart (Bruce), Diana (Ray) Smallwood, and Dawn Dreiling. Del is preceded in death by his father, Ray, infant brother, Layne Parsons, and his son, Layne C. Parsons.
