Deron Withers Obituary

Deron Lance Withers, 53, left his earthly home on Sunday, November 28, 2021 as a result of a severe asthma attack.

Deron was born June 3, 1968 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Sandi Withers and the late Dick Withers. He was the younger of two siblings. He graduated from Arkansas City High School, studied at Cowley College and worked at Pfizer in McPherson, Kansas.

Deron was engaged to the light of his life Michelle Webb, was very proud of his two sons, Bailey and Adam Withers and was a proud papa to his beautiful granddaughter Athena.

Deron liked to help people and found joy in the simple things. He was known by his friends and family as fun loving and kind. Deron had an ornery side, but he never met a stranger, and always saw the good in people.  Even in his death, he continued to help people through the gift of organ, eye and tissue donations.

Aside from his family, his other two loves were fishing and his Harley. He spent many of his days alongside his good friends making memories while looking for the next big catch. He was famous for his larger than life “fish” stories, often told behind that halfcocked smile.  Deron loved to ride his Harley and took care of his buddies on their many road trips. Deron is now riding with angels, watching over those left to ride on.

We can’t help but smile knowing his Nana, who held a special place in her heart for him, welcomed him to Heaven with open arms. He will be missed but take comfort knowing that he has gone fishin’ with the Master of the sea.

Deron is survived by his fiancé, Michelle Webb, his children, Bailey Withers of Wichita, KS and Adam Withers of Augusta, KS; step-son Codi Larmer; his granddaughter, Athena Withers; his mother and stepfather, Jim and Sandi Hedinger of Ponca City, OK; his sister, Dori (Trent) Knobbe of Sylvan Grove, KS; his step-sister Debbie (John) Chekal of Belle Plaine, IA; his grandfather Darrell Collins of Huntsville, MO; and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and a host of long-time friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dick Withers; grandmothers Freda “Nana” Collins and Ruth Withers; grandfather Sidney Withers, uncles Gary Withers and Jim Withers, and cousin Reagan Marie John.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Arkansas City Gym. Memorial contributions may be made to the Asthma & Allergy Research Foundation of America, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
