Dianna Kay VanDeest, 76, of Oxford, KS passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025 at The Oxford Joy Home.
Dianna was born on May 21, 1949 at the Sedgwick County Hospital, in Wichita, KS to parents Espy and Leota (Conley) Hemphill. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1967. Dianna married James VanDeest on April 22, 1968 in Oxford, KS. She pursued a lifelong career as a nurse, retiring as the director of nursing at William Newton Hospital in Winfield. She was also the bookkeeper for VanDeest Construction. Dianna was an avid reader, especially when it came to Stephen King’s novels. Being a grandma to her grandchildren was her most treasured joy.
Dianna is survived by her sons Dirk (Izabela) VanDeest and Drake VanDeest, grandson Geordie (Rosie) VanDeest, great-grandchildren Aubree and Bentley Johnson, and Declan VanDeest. She is preceded in death by her husband James and parents.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the Oxford Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be made to the William Newton Hospital Auxiliary, donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.
