Doris Mae (Swafford) Bodkins, 84, of Winfield passed away Monday, August 17, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family.
The family will hold private graveside services at Highland Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene and the Cowley County Humane Society. Arrangements are in care of Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Doris was born February 14, 1936 in Cherryvale, KS to Claude and Opal (Crites) Swafford. She married Willard Lee Bodkins November 2, 1953 in Newkirk, OK. Doris graduated from a Wichita cosmetology school, she spent 25 years as a hairdresser and owned her own salon. Her hobbies were horseback riding, fishing, and crocheting. Doris was dedicated to her faith and was very involved in the children’s program at First Church of the Nazarene of Winfield. Her favorite way to spend time was caring for her grandkids and her faithful canine companion Hanna.
Survivors include son Willard Bodkins (Kathy), daughter Sherry Bodkins (Donald O’Neil); grandchildren: Holli Bodkins (Eyan), Stephanie Bodkins (Kamy), Staci Karim, Emily Bodkins (Daniel); great-grandchildren: Arizona, Kinley, Liam, Annabelle, Tempi, Kyson, Chaiilynn, Jossallee, Lilyanna, Elliette, Ezra. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Eugene and Robert Swafford, and grandson Kevin Bodkins.
