Douglas Lee Kahm, 94, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at Ascension Via Christi St. Teresa in Wichita, KS surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 22, 2023 at Calvary Chapel in Ark City. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association; donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
Doug was born on September 8, 1929 in Arkansas City, KS to parents Robert Kahm and Agnes (Allard)Yingling Kahm. He was reared and educated in rural Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School. He married Nancy Pauline Hockenbury on August 9, 1952 at the Central Christian Church. Doug was drafted into the US Air Force and afterward started working as a salesman for Parman’s Furniture and later Foster’s Furniture. After his wife passed, he worked as a greeter at Walmart for several years. Doug enjoyed yard work and playing the piano for family and at the churches he attended including Mt. Zion Church and Random Road Community Church.
Survivors include his son Douglas Lee Kahm, Jr. and his wife Twilla, sister Helen Scott, grandchildren Denica Kahm, Michael Kahm, and Nicholas Kahm (Sheyann), great-grandchildren Leytti and Tripp, foster son Curtis Littrell and family, foster grandson Stephen Butler and family, and his amazing friend and neighbor Sue Meyer. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings Dorothy Cochran, Timmy Yingling, and Bobby Yingling.
