Obituary

Erin Kay Galaway (Thompson), 43, of Winfield, KS passed away at her home Thursday, July 13, 2023.

Celebration of life services will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church in Winfield, all family and friends are invited. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.

Erin was born July 1, 1980 in Wichita, KS to parents Barry Thompson and Jeanne Weber Thompson. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1998 and then earned a bachelor's degree from K-State University. Erin lived in Florida for several years and worked at and helped open several golf courses in Grand Cypress and Harmony, she also worked for Charles Schwab in Florida. After moving back to Winfield Erin worked for Schwan’s and Twin Rivers. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards, board games, doing word puzzles, and cooking for her family. Erin lived life to the fullest; she loved to laugh, was adventurous and always spoke her mind. She will be remembered as a fun, free-spirited, and big-hearted daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

Surviving to honor her memory are her parents Barry (Donna) Thompson, and Jeanne Thompson, sister Megan (Todd) Whiteley, niece Sydney Whiteley, aunt Kay Dunlap, aunt Janell (Lewis) Haddock step-brother JR (Laura) Fitzpatrick, step-sister Angela (Chris) Hofford, as well as several cousins and numerous step-aunts, cousins and nieces and her fur baby kitty Olivia. Erin is preceded in death by her grandparents Jack and Wilma Thompson, and Robert and Josephine Weber.
