In his beloved home in Winfield, Kansas at the age of 81, Gerald “Jerry” Graham, passed away on August 31, 2021 following an honorable battle with cancer.
Jerry was born on December 6, 1939 to Ivan and Lenora (Holman) Graham with two older brothers, Ted and Ned. He grew up in the Dexter, Kansas area and attended Prairie Ridge School before graduating from Winfield High School in 1957. Jerry then joined the Navy, serving 3 years before safely returning home and soon after meeting the love of his life, Elaine Bennett whom he married at the Tisdale Church on July 20, 1962.
Throughout his life, Jerry worked at Binney and Smith, drove show cars, City of Winfield, General Electric, and the Kellogg Coop. He was a past elder and member of the Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church. He then found much enjoyment in retirement where he expanded his hobbies and friend groups. Jerry took joy in each of his dogs, watching his grandchildren play sports, flying his participation in the Walnut Valley Carving Club, attending Heart Menders, and meeting friends for breakfast and coffee.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Lenora Graham and his brother Ted. He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine, his brother Ned (Claire), his sons Jeffrey (Mary Ann) and Steve (Bonnie). He has 6 grandchildren, Cole (Tracy), Kelsey (Paul), Zachary (Mikaela), Emily, Amanda (Dustin), Garrett (Tawny), and 8 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 3, 2021 at Highland Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Memorials have been established with Heart Menders at William Newton Hospital and the Walnut Valley Carvers Club, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
