Gladys Fae (Whitehead) Weigand passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Wichita, Kansas on the morning of January 12th, 2021.
Visitation will take place Tuesday January 19, 2021 9:30 – 11:30 A.M. at Shelley Family Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. that afternoon at Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City. A memorial has been established with Gideon's International and Family Life Services. Born at home on January 17th,1932, to Arthur and Elsie (Glenn) Whitehead outside of Capron, Oklahoma. Gladys was the third of five sisters. Gladys was a blessing to her extended family through her life. As Gladys and her sisters grew up, they remained remarkably close.
After graduating from Driftwood High School, Gladys studied nursing at Cherokee Hospital. Family, school friends, and co-workers loved her sense of fun and appreciated her efficient, caring attention. She continued nursing for many years, long into her married life. Gladys married Norman Weigand on May 1, 1953. They spent many devoted years together, having three children.
Gladys is survived by her husband Norman, her daughter, Ronda (Dean) Dutton, her son-in-law, Dean Hall, and son, Randall (Denise) Weigand; Sisters Virginia Tatro and Jewell James; Grandchildren, Michael (Holly) and Steven Dutton, Rachelle (Philip) Grant, Amber (Brett) Blake, Breanne Hall, Ashley, Sara and Melanie Dealy; Great-grandchildren, Keegan, Noah, Rebekah, Mary, and Matthew Dutton, Elliot Grant, Braylee, Payton, Hayden, and Deager Blake, Vincent Dealy and Zachariah Gilligan, and many loving nieces, nephews, and their families and her adopted daughters Susanna Denis and AnitaRae Dutton. She goes to join her parents Arthur and Elsie Whitehead, sisters, JoAnn Dorris and Helen Knopf, and daughter Mary Jean Hall.
