Glenice Nadine (Rising) Bannon, 94, of Winfield passed away at her home Tuesday, September 29, 2020.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 2, 2020 at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. No visitation is scheduled. Arrangements are in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Glenice was born September 5, 1926 in rural Cowley County near Wilmot, to parents Glen and Eunice (Bennett) Rising. She graduated from Burden High School. Glenice was united in marriage to Kenneth “Vernon” Bannon on July 29, 1944 in Winfield. The couple spent the early years of their marriage in Cowley County. They then moved to rural Leon where they raised their family. Later, they lived on a farm near El Dorado for over 18 years where they farmed the land. After retiring Vernon and Glenice returned to the Winfield area. Glenice was a homemaker and loved being a foster grandparent at Webster School for over 26 years, she was sad to retire at 85; she enjoyed shopping, going to Penney’s, getting presents for family and friends, and was known around town as Grandma to many.
Her family includes: son Glen Bannon of Winfield; daughters Kendra Van Dever and husband, Walt of Bradenton, FL; Sondra Ceynar and husband, Allen of Andover; granddaughters Tracy Wittbecker of Denver, CO; Karissa Ceynar of Andover; great-grandson Kenneth Ceynar-Queen of Andover; and sister Norma Ireland. In addition to her parents Glenice was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Gary and Brad Bannon.
