Hilda Ann Slaight, 70, of Geuda Springs, KS, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
Hilda was born on July 19, 1955, in Ellsworth, KS, to parents Virgil and Anna Mae (Burke) Behrens. She graduated from Lincoln, KS, high school before starting her career as an EMT and later on as a CNA. She worked for many years in Ellsworth before working at Good Samaritan in Wellington and Wheatlands in Kingman. Hilda enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making Native American jewelry, reading anything by Stephen King, and writing short stories of her own.
Hilda is survived by her children, Julie, Eric, and Billy Slaight, grandchildren Hailey Evans, Jason McElroy, and Dayton Weeks, great-grandchildren Marquise and Henry, siblings Henry Behrens, Carl Behrens, and Miriam Morrill, and niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Patrick. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later time. Memorials in her name may be made to help with funeral expenses and can be left with the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
