Jack Lee Sawyer, 94, formerly of Oxford, KS passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Kansas Veterans’ Home in Winfield.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Oxford First Baptist Church. Burial will take place at a later date at the Terrell Cemetery in Oklahoma. Memorial contributions for Jack may be made to Kindred Hospice, contributions may be left in care of the Oxford Funeral Service – PO Box 123 Oxford, KS 67119.
Jack was born in Miami, FL May 1, 1926 to French William and Mabel (Miller) Sawyer. He graduated from Wellington, KS High School in 1942. In 1968 Jack was united in marriage to Favette “Bobbie” Miller. He was a proud WWII veteran and a devoted Christian. Jack worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and retired from the Dallas school district as a custodian. He enjoyed doing needlepoint on canvas and was a member of the Oxford First Baptist Church.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, wife Favette “Bobbie” Sawyer, brothers Russell, Bill, Don, Richard, Jerry and Kenny; sisters Patricia Ostrander and Betty Witte. He is survived by sisters in law AnnaMae (Richard) Sawyer, Louise (Jerry) Sawyer Layne and Nyla (Kenny) Sawyer, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved extended family in Texas.
