James (Jim) Kevin Delp of Oxford, KS passed away, April 1, 2025 surrounded by his family at the age of 90.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Oxford Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Memorials have been established with the Oxford Baseball Association and First Baptist Church of Oxford, donations may be left in the care of the Oxford Funeral Service.
Jim was born the son of Everett and Mildred (Parks) Delp on November 14, 1934, in Oxford, KS. He attended Oxford schools, graduating in 1953. Jim was a member of the last state basketball teams in 1951 and 1952. Jim was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Marsha Lee Spence on March 3, 1957, and together they made their home in Oxford. Jim was drafted into the United States Army in May of 1957 and served his country overseas in Germany until 1959. Upon returning home, he worked for Oliver Furniture and Funeral Service. In 1974, Jim and Marsha opened Oxford Appliance and Floor Covering. Throughout his career and into retirement, Jim raised pigs and ran cattle. Jim was an integral part of the founding of the Oxford Baseball Association and coached for over 12 years. Over the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, playing cribbage, mowing and moving hay for White Ag and never missed Wheel of Fortune. One of his greatest joys was attending his Grandchildren’s and then Great-Grandchildren’s sporting events.
Surviving to honor his memory are his wife of 68 years Marsha of Oxford; children, Darren Delp and his wife Robin of Ridgway, CO, and Jami White and her husband Keel of Oxford; grandchildren, Nancy (Tyler) Martin, Kevin (Morgan) White, Kendall (Mandy) Delp and Alexander (Shelbie) White; great-grandchildren, Millie and James Martin, Declan Delp, Blair, Bennett and Briggs White, and Archer and brother-to-be White.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and 1 brother, son, Jeffrey Delp and granddaughter, Monica Delp.
