Janis Elaine Shaw, 53, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 29, 2024 at Hope Cemetery in Arkansas City. No visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions for Janis may be made to the Shelley Family Funeral Home to defray expenses, or to the Janis Shaw Grandchildren Education Fund.
Janis was born July 11, 1971 in Arkansas City, KS to parents Stanley and Mayleene (Sterling) Schwartz. She graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1990 and worked at Twin Rivers as a vocational learning teacher for 10 years. Janis was united in marriage to Kent Shaw, the couple later divorced but remained life-long friends. Janis never met a stranger, she enjoyed sharing a beer with friends, going camping, and taking float trips, singing and dancing, and most of all, she loved spending time with her grandkids.
Janis is survived by her children Geoffrey Schwartz (Lisa) and Krista Cohrs (William), bonus son Blake Bahruth, grandchildren, Ivy, Blaze, Piper, Alyssa, Mercedes, Dante, and Axle, bonus grandchild Hazlynn Bahruth, siblings, Barrett Schwartz (Teresa Phillips), Jason Schwartz (Josi), and Brian Schwartz (Jennifer), significant other Jeffrey Hauser, life-long friend Shannon Elwell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and former husband Kent Shaw.
