Jean Marie Dewell, 97, of Winfield, KS passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Bucklin, KS Cemetery. Memorial contributions for Jean may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Jean was born on June 24, 1927, in Baldwin, KS to parents H.T. and Alberta Minnis. She grew up in Bucklin, KS and graduated from Bucklin High School. After high school she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Arlan Ray Dewell, on August 6, 1950. After raising her family, Jean worked at the William Newton Hospital for over 15 years as a nurse’s aide. Jean loved traveling, dancing, and a glass of red wine, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband Ray, her children Craig Dewell and wife Kris, and Renae Metzger, 4 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mattie and Sarah, brothers JW and Bud, and her son Douglas Ray and son-in-law Randy Metzger.
