Jeff Allen Delp

Jeff Delp, 58 of Oxford, KS, passed away Sunday May 27, 2018 at his home in Oxford, Kansas.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Kansas. The family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of the donors choosing.  Contributions can be left with the Oxford Funeral Service P.O. Box 123, Oxford, KS 67119. 

Jeffery Allen Delp was born on February 15, 1960 the son of James and Marsha (Spence) Delp in Winfield, KS. He was a 1978 graduate of Oxford High School.  During high school he was a member of the basketball and football teams but could most often be found in the high school woodshop. Graduating from Southwestern with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Jeff was also a member of the tennis team.

Jeff worked as a self-employed craftsman and was known for his talent with fine woodworking.  Many of the homes in the area boast his intricate work which was a true expression of his perfectionism.  When Jeff wasn’t behind the saw, you could find him practicing one of his many hobbies. 

Jeff loved to travel.  Taking his first trip to Australia right after high school, his favorite travels took him across Europe more than once, to the Amazon, Zion National Park and the mountains of Colorado.  Jeff always returned from his adventures with beautiful photographs.  Still images that could tell an entire story.  Behind the lens was his favorite place to be.

Photographing the wonders of the world was just one of Jeff’s artistic expressions.  Jeff loved music. Both listening to and playing.  He taught himself to play the guitar and had a knack of seeking out lesser known talented musicians. You could find him with his guitar in the Pecan Grove during Bluegrass.

If Jeff wasn’t reading and quoting a National Geographic or great American novel, he could be found outside.  Whether he was chasing storms, kayaking the river, climbing the highest mountain or sunning his unique plants, Jeff loved being in the great outdoors. 

Jeff never met a stranger.  He made friends wherever he went.  He loved his family but was especially fond of the little ones and boy did they love him back.  With that charismatic and enthusiastic personality, how could you not love him.

Survivors include his parents; James Kevin and Marsha Lee (Spence) Delp of Oxford, brother, Darren Delp and wife Robin of Ridgway, CO and sister Jami White and husband Keel of Oxford, nieces and nephews Nancy Martin and husband Tyler, Kevin White and wife Morgan, Kendall Delp and Mandy and Alex White, great nieces and nephew, Blair White, Millie Rae Martin and Bennett White.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents.
