John Dale Jarvis

John Dale Jarvis, 72, of Arkansas City, KS, passed away on December 8, 2019 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at First Assembly of God Church in Arkansas City.  In lieu of flowers, the family established the John Jarvis Memorial Fund and may be sent to Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.  

John Dale Jarvis was born on May 22, 1947, in Monett, Missouri, the son of Elmer D. and Wilma I. (Watson) Jarvis.  He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1965.  He then continued his education at Sonoma State University in California, where he obtained his degree in Accounting.  John served during the Vietnam Era in the United States Army from January of 1967 to December of 1968 when he was honorably discharged.  On April 22, 1999, he was united in marriage to Sharon Mitchell in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.   The couple made their home in Arkansas City, where John owned Jarvis Accounting and Tax Service for the last 37 years.  

He was member of the First Assembly of God Church in Arkansas City.  He also was member of the VFW and American Legion in Arkansas City.  He also was member of the Public Accountant Association of Kansas.   John enjoyed golf and traveling.

Surviving to honor his memory is his wife, Sharon of the home; his children, David G. Jarvis of Arkansas City, James W. Jarvis (Tammy) of Girard, KS, Tiffany M. Jarvis of Lawrence, KS, Kaitlyn M. Post (Dana) of Salina, KS; his stepchildren, Amy D Cirillo (Mike) of Tulsa, OK and David Scott Beasley of Arkansas City; his sister, Mary Ann Harter of Clovis, CA; his 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and brother, Morris W. Jarvis.
