Joyce Carolyene Eagan, 87, of Arkansas City, passed away on Sunday evening, December 27, 2020 at her home.
Private family services will be held and there will be no public viewing or visitation. A memorial has been established with the Ark City Area Arts Council. Contributions may be made through Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
Joyce was born on April 28, 1933 in Grainola, Oklahoma the daughter of Lewis C. and Mattie M. (Plummer) Gentry. In 1955 in Winfield, KS, she was united in marriage to Lowell Keith Eagan, Sr. The couple made their home in Arkansas City. She was a homemaker and an amazing artist. She painted in oils and pastels, but her watercolors were where she really excelled. She won many awards and was recognized in several competitions for her artwork. She participated in art shows in Oklahoma and Kansas. She was artist of the year and had her paintings picked for display at the Kansas Governor’s office. Joyce was a member of KAOP, KAG and Central Plains Artist.
Her family includes: her husband, Lowell of the home; her son, Keith Eagan of Arkansas City, her daughters, Mary Knox of Edmond, OK and Celia Fisher of Arkansas City, KS; her siblings, Linda Littou (Dale) and Billy Gentry (Carolyn) all of Arkansas City; her 6 grandchildren, Brandy, Kayla, Lindsay, Jace, Jeffrey and Matthew and her 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dolores Hough, brothers, David and Roy Gentry and granddaughter, Lacey Nicole Fisher.
