Katherine Marie Elrod

Katherine "Kathy" Marie Elrod, 64, of Arkansas City, KS passed away February 20, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.

Celebration of life services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Kathy was born on November 5, 1960, in Gallup, New Mexico, to parents Orville and Florence (Mast) Nimitz. The family moved to Caldwell, KS, where she graduated from high school; she then attended Cowley Junior College before working at the Arkansas City post office for many years before raising her family. On March 27, 1984 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Eddie Elrod. Kathy enjoyed going to the casino, motorcycle trips anywhere across the US, reading, playing volleyball in her youth, and bowling, but the thing she loved most of all was being with her grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her husband, daughter Christina Miller (Toby), of Wichita, KS, and son Beau Elrod (Bridgette) of Arkansas City, KS; grandchildren Tolen, Treven, Cooper, Jordyn, Blayke, and William; and siblings Debbie Freidell, Jerry Nimitz, and Tim Nimitz.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
