Kenneth “Kenny” Dwayne Tyler, 62 of Arkansas City, KS passed away December 18, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family after a 7 year battle with non-small cell adenocarcinoma, he battled it out to the very last with AEL Leukemia.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at First Southern Baptist Church of Arkansas City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kendra Tyler Educational Fund at Ark Valley Credit Union, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.
Kenny was born on October 3, 1962 in Kansas City, KS to parents Melvin and Gladys (Ewing), Tyler. He attended Cedar Vale Middle School, then Ark City and Winfield High School where he received the nickname “Terrible Tyler” before enlisting in the Army at 17. After the Army Kenny worked for the railroad then he started Tyler Tile and Construction which he owned and operated for over 40 years. Kenny was united in marriage to the love of his life, Britney, on February 14, 2002. Kenny enjoyed fishing, listening to old country music, watching Western TV shows, traveling, telling jokes, making people laugh, and always helping people. Kenny was a great mentor to his family, friends as well as his crew that worked for him.
Kenny is survived by his wife Britney, daughter Kendra, one granddaughter, and one great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Ricky Tyler and Crystal Tyler.
